Little Helpers

I worked on a little crafty project for myself today.  It was cold and icy out.  Snow showers popped up again every so often, so it was a perfect day to stay in and do this little project. I can’t take credit for this idea at all.  I saw this wonderful idea on Creative Carmelina’s blog.  She did a great job! I thought these were so unique and pretty to provide a function in any craft or sewing room.

Carmelina used these images above from The Graphics Fairy.  After I saw Carmelina’s post, I had her project on my mind.   Pop on over to Carmelina’s blog and see what a great job she did on hers! Then Karen {at The Graphics Fairy} posted this set of French ladies.

Loved them! Within her post on them, I was led to two more sets, for a total of six French ladies!  I printed them out on cardstock.

A large cereal box {the kind that holds the two bags of cereal from the warehouse clubs} was cut up as my base.  This box is a lot sturdier and thicker than the cereal boxes from the grocery store.

I cut the ladies out as closely as possible.  I used craft tape to attach a piece of vintage look cardstock to the cardboard and then used craft glue to adhere each lady.

I kept them as close to the top as possible.

Here is how they will be helping me!

This will be a big help to keep my pieces of lace, seam binding and any other bits and bobs neat and in order!  Plus, they look so pretty!

Twelve more to go and I’ll have a bevy of French beauties to help keep me neat and organized.  I found this box {that held a napkin holder and napkins from Home Goods that I’d saved} to hold them for the time being.

They do make me think that this type of thing might have been around over the years past, just for this purpose, too.

Thank you, Carmelina, for sharing such a great idea and for your thought that “our studio spaces and sewing rooms need to look as beautifully arranged as the rest of our homes”.  A true statement!  Thanks also to Karen at The Graphics Fairy for her continued generosity in sharing these images!

Oh my god, I was just literally on here a second before you posted this to see if you had added Linky Followers. =) I just added to mine too. And these are such a great idea - I need to make some too as my seam binding gets all tangled up.

Did you get snow?

Too weird. I did not read Creative Carmelina's post about this but I had done something very similiar to this awhile back with my lace!

Yours turned out very nice.

That's a great idea. I hate to admit I've been wrapping my bits and pieces on ugly cardboard. You have inspired me to go "pretty it up".
