What Drought?

It’s been a difficult Summer for plants. I just lost a basket that had been waxing and waning all Summer even though I was watering it.  I guess being in full sun all day even though it was petunias wasn’t working for it.  I’ve already made a small list of things that I might try next year.   One urn I planted took off with the heat.  I showed you this one by our garage earlier in the season planted with colorful foliage plants.

This is what it looks like today!  You can’t even see the urn anymore!

I have got to find out the name of that purple plant because it just took off in the heat and humidity!  I did also use a Miracle Gro expandable soil mixture with some regular potting soil when I planted this pot, so that may have helped, too.

The coleus also held up well, as did the licorice plant {although it is mostly blocked by the purple plant}.    All in all, I was really pleased with the plantings in this urn and will have to refer back to this picture next year.  Looking at this pot you’d never know we had a drought this Summer!

You are so lucky...this is beautiful. Most of my pots in the sun just died (I have to get rid of them, we look like a haunted house!). The ones in the shade are doing well. What a summer!

Jane

Your plant looks beautiful! I've had some problems this year with my flowers and my garden too. It's just been so very hot here in SC.

O'Kathy your plant looks beautiful! I wish I could say mine did well too but unfortunately they didn't. I only have a few left and they look terrible. Hopefully, my fall planting will do better. Enjoy your evening, Gail

That does look beautiful! I pretty much lost everything when we were gone on vacation during the 113 degree heat.

That urn is absolutely beautiful with those lucsious plants. When you figure out the name of the purple foliage, please let us know. My petunias usually thrive in the direct sun and this year they didn't hold up as usual and I live in a whole other state. The sun really eats up the beauty sometimes.

I feel your pain! My pots have been wilting all summer long! I'm taking them all out next week and planting for fall. I actually think your plants looks quite beautiful!!
