You might recall my posting about this box. It is one of the items I picked up at Goodwill a couple of weeks ago. I believe it is a greeting card organizer/holder and I had been looking for something similar for just that purpose.
It’s in good shape and clean; I just didn’t care for the floral on the top of the lid. So I grabbed some scrapbook paper that would work with the existing colors and something new ~ paper tape {or some name like that}. I cut the paper to fit the top and applied that with some Mod Podge. Once that dried I did a coat on top of the paper.
When the top coat of Mod Podge had dried, I used this paper tape all along the edges of the paper. This works for me because I tend to cut things crooked ~ and that’s with my reading glasses on! This is my first time using this tape and I really like it as not only another adhesive type tool, but also for what it adds to a project.
For that portion of the lid where it meets the base, I clipped the back off of a button and hot glued it on to the existing “dot”, which you can just see in the first picture above.
Just a little bit of bling!
Not a major project by any means, but I like this organizer a lot better this way. Now I just need to get some cards to fill it with!

I like the paper tape. I've never used it either.
Does my heart good, as I sit here with my glasses on (with bifocals!) to hear you mention yours!
Thanks for your sweet comments! I'll be thinking on the ceiling fan crystals issue too!
This is cute Kathy! That's such pretty paper. I should keep some around for projects.

I LOVE it Kathy! I have never heard of paper tape before, but now I can't wait to buy some and try it out. So many possibilities! Btw, I have one of those Hallmark boxes and mine needs some prettying too! Thanks for the inspiration! Have a wonderful week!
xoxo,

You just amaze me how you can take some thing so plain and turn into a really pretty piece. I love the way your mind works.
Wish I could get mine into a creative mood.
Hope your having a great week and you may be right about the pool therapy...haha

What a difference some bling makes (that sounds like it should be made into a song! LOL) Like the changes you made! BTW, thanks for stopping by my Blog. Good to know the pricing info for Goodwill!!! Thanks! :-)
I adore the bit of bling!
Did you see me waving to you while on the train while I was visiting? :)
No they don't call me by my name (their older ladies) but they do know me by sight. Not just for buying the china but other stuff with them too, I'm definately one of their favorite regulars. Hehe! They do have a teapot only it is pretty chipped up..but only $5.00. Very tempting but I will never use it. The only other thing left I may want is the soup bowls but they are at $5.00 a piece and there are 4. They would be my last purchase if they are still around in a few weeks.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! :)
This turned out beautiful. The jewelry added to the front was just the icing on the cake!
Turned out great. I knew you would be able to make it into something beautiful, and so you have.
