Fall Cloche Party

I have to mention that one of my favorite cloches, my dome clock cloche, did not make the trip from New York to Ohio intact.  I was very sad to see the crack in the bottom of the glass when I unpacked it.  I really liked this one, too.  I had painted the ceramic base with Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint and covered the top part with a fleur de lis scrapbook paper {which hid the holes from the clock workings beautifully}.  I still have the base though, so I’m sure I can find it another purpose somewhere.

BUT, I found an even bigger one at the local flea and antique mart.  It was marked $15.00 but the seller said she’d give it to me for $7.00.  Okay!  I didn’t see one at Goodwill when I went recently, and I wanted to make sure I had one for Marty’s Cloche Party.  So she came home with me.

It’s almost a shame to take it apart, but I definitely do not need another clock in this house!  I basically did the same thing with this one as I did with the other.  I painted the plastic base of this one black {cause that’s what I had} and used my other favorite pattern ~ a harlequin ~ on this one.  So here’s the replacement now, holding a plastic skull for Halloween.

And, some Fallish “stuff” on my living room side table.  Once the Halloween stuff is cleared away off the fireplace mantel, it will transition over to there.

Since I took these pictures before Halloween, I still have one holding a bunch of skulls from the dollar store.  I have a bag with some small pinecone filler to replace the skulls.

This was the cloche I made from a vase and glass knob shown here.  {I’ll probably edit later today and add the updated look}.

I won’t show you my wine cork one again because it’s, well, still holding the wine corks!  I do have my apothecary jar on my countertop with some Fall filler and a “gratitude” tag hanging off the lid.

And, of course, I found a way to utilize that cloche that I always think is bigger than it is by pairing it with a dollar store silver tray and my scary-for-all-the-wrong-reasons pumpkins.

Thanks for taking a gander at my cloches.  I’m linking up with Marty’s Fall Cloche Party.  I love these parties because I’m always looking for new ideas for my cloches.

Tomorrow is the last day to enter my Cabbages and Roses giveaway!  A chance to win a copy of the book At Home With Country.

You did a great job creating that cloche. I need to get a cloche. I wanted to join in Marty's party but have yet to be able to find a cloche. I do think I have an old clock like the one you transformed. I have to look. If I do, I am totally copying what you did. It looks awesome.

Hi there! I went back and did a little reading, I am so excited to get ideas to make my own cloche. I don't have one and do not want to spend to get one so I am gonna give it a try to see what I can come up with!
Thanks for your visit and kind comments!

Oh I love all of your cloches. You did such a great job of changing the clock, and I am thrilled that you got a new one. I love the skulls and pumpkins, they all look great for the season, and your apothecary jars look fabulous also. Thanks so much for joining the party. Hugs, Marty

Your place is coming along so nicely! Love the festive holiday touches. I haven't gotten that far. I use to have some of that black and white backing (don't know if yours is wallpaper or shelf liner. Mine was shelf liner.) Where did you find it? I would love to get some for this house, and haven't seen it in years.

Awww... cracked? My heartaches §:-(

Love the cloché with the skulls and the hurricane.

To be honest, I never find the hurricanes in Sweden. I really been hunting for awhile now.

Hope you have/had a great time.

Kathy, your idea of making cloches from glass vases and knobs or finials is GENIUS! I am a cloche collector from forever. I can't get enough of them. Now I can really customize the looks of them and change them in and out all year long. Your cloches and fillers are awesome, love your blog!

The tiny skulls are perfectly ghoulish and the B&W pumpkins are sweet.

Simply adorable! Funny thing on that little clock. I just saw the same one at Good will for a buck fifty and I passed it by. Who knew I could have done something like this with it. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Kathy, If something had to get cracked, at least it wasn't expensive. You did such a cute job with your cloches--I really like the skulls. It seems as if you are pretty settled.

Beautiful pics, love your cloches and fillers, Kathy! Isn't it amazing how adding that bit of paper to the bottom base changes the looks so much?!?
