About a month or so ago, I picked up this shelf at one of the local thrift stores, thinking I might be able to use it as a crib canopy for my granddaughter’s bedroom makeover.
After ditching the idea for safety reasons, I still had the shelf and figured I could use it in our master WC.
I gave it a coat of Duck Egg to get started. Then found this graphic from The Graphics Fairy.
I Mod Podged it on and then added some clear and dark waxes. You can’t really notice it in this picture, but the Mod Podge that went beyond the graphic wouldn’t accept the dark wax.
Do you think if I sand it in those areas, the dark wax will adhere?
I played around with adding a few things to decorate it.
Now I’ve got a little shelf to take up some of that wall space in the master bathroom WC area! I just need to find a little picture to put underneath, so I’ll be on the look out for something.

Kathy, your vintage shelf has great lines and the paint is wonderful on it. Have a terrific week, Olive
Hi Kathy,
I love how you transformed the pretty shelf. Yes sanding where the Mod Podge is might do the trick.

I love it!!!
Kathy that's awesome!
I love when we come up with good ideas - well, in this case, GREAT idea - for something we already have.
Cleverly done.
I like it best displayed with the bottle of flowers. : - )
You need to share that with Metamorphasis Monday too - they'd like this over there!
Have a wonderful Holy Week.
Great shelf and such a cute idea. So nice to have a place to decorate, love the style of the shelf and the color. Hugs, Marty
That turned out really cute! I love it! Sometimes things that don't work in one place work out even better than we ever expected in another spot! Perfect~ xo Diana
That turned out so cute! Yes, you should be able to wax it after sanding off the protective sealer that the modpodge gives. Sometimes paint will adhere where the wax won't.
That looks so good. I'm not an expert with waxes, but you could certainly try that. You might could use a glaze over it too if you wanted to darken the label a bit.
Really great shelf Kathy!!! You always come up with awesome things to do with your finds!
How I adore your little shelf transformation. I bet if ya do sand those areas the dark was will adhere.
God bless ya sweetie and have an excellent week!!! :o)
Your little shelf is so cute. I love it!
Thanks for stopping by, Mary Alice
Kathy- Do you think that sanding the mod-podged area then re-waxing with clear then dark, that you'll still have a line of demarcation? I would think you'd want to do the entire back surface. What do I know? We should ask Jean. :-) It is a cute shelf!
It looks great. I think if you sand off the mod podge. it will work.
The shelf is so cute, Kathy! Love it! Have a Happy Easter!! Linda
It turned out really beautiful. Have a good day.
Great shelf! I would think that if you sand those areas the dark wax should adhere.

Duck Egg is my favorite color! I juts wish I could use it in my home. Your shelf looks great! The graphic gave it just the right touch!
It's such a pretty little shelf -- I have some duck egg -- haven't used it yet! Need to pull it out I think.
