Soup For One

I stopped off in TJ Maxx the other day looking to see if I couldn’t find the brown and white transferware rabbit plates I had seen on a couple of blogs.  My Home Goods did not have any.  In fact, they had a pretty sad selection of dishes. I love brown and white transferware and I love rabbits.   TJ Maxx wasn’t much better, although I did find this.

An individual serving soup tureen.  A very sweet piece with a very sweet price of $4.99.  I wanted two {one for my husband and one for me}.  They had one.   So I will have to check back with them and see if they get any others in.  I just need one more!

It has a pretty leaf pattern on it.

I figured I’d set up a couple of different place settings using it, just to make it feel even worse that I only found one.  First I tried it with a set of dishes I have with some creams and browns.

This is the Country Living set from Kmart.

Then I tried it with our every day dishes.  These white ones from Walmart.

The color goes perfectly with them, as does the raised dots going around the top.

Keep your fingers crossed for me that, when I go back next week to check, they have just one more that I can get.  Otherwise, it’s soup for one!

love the little tureen. I'm kicking myself for not buying more of those bunny/deer/pheasant transferware plates. I could have had a side business with all the emails I received from people wanting to buy them lol

Oh- It looks so nice...I especially like it with the Walmart dishes. I don't know why they quit selling them. I didn't find them until they were closed out so only got 6 plates-darn it!

I have never seen any brown transferware at our TJMaxx either- xo Diana

I love it, Kathy, and it would drive me crazy to have only one! I find that Homegoods, TJ Maxx, etc. are hit or miss. I was at Marshall's the other day and I didn't see any dishes that caught my eye. I do hope you find another tureen as it goes so well with the dishes you have.

XO,
Jane

Tj Maxx, Marshalls and Homegoods are owned by the same corporation...so try some other stores in your area...if you have them available.

Hi, Kathy. It's darling; no wonder you still bought it even though there was only one. There's always hope to find the other one. In fact, I'll probably make a stop at HG or TJM this weekend, so if I find one I'll pick it up for you. I'll keep you posted!! :) ~Zuni

That is a cute little tureen and goes well with so many other pieces. I hope you find one and if I get to TJ I'll look too.

Very pretty! I have a couple of little for one tureens I got at the thrift store in my DR.

My TJX dish selection has gotten really bad. They used to always have lots of lovely dishes and would change them up frequently. Not anymore. Maybe they don't sell well?

Wow, that little tureen matches your everyday dishes perfectly. If you don't find another one, you can use this one for condiments or sugar or just about anything. Of course, I do hope you find it a mate.

Just as soon as the truck is unloaded at our tj maxx the professional designers are there loading their buggies up! Makes me crazy! They buy everything! I am going to have to take a day off and go wait on them to open. I will keep my eyes peeled for a tureen.
