Ice Skates

I found a pair of ice skates at a yard sale over the Summer ~ $2.00.  I’d been looking for a pair {or even just one} to use in my Winter and holiday decorating for awhile now, so I practically ran to these when I saw them.

I wanted a little “fur” around my ice skates so I picked up these hair accessories at Hobby Lobby.  The two on the toes are clips and the fur around the tops is ponytail holders. After cleaning up the skates using a Magic Eraser, I cut the ponytail holders and hot glued them on.   The clips I just clipped on.

Since I wanted an icy look to the blades, I got out the Epsom Salts.  Some spray adhesive on the blades and then a sprinkling of Epsom Salts.   I then tied on this little wooden Let It Snow {also found at a garage sale this Summer}.

I’ve hung them on one of the chairs outside our front door.  I think they are a nice addition to our simple outdoor Christmas décor.

I like that most of what I have up outside can stay through the winter months ~ with the removal of the ornament related decorations.

Great idea. I'll have to keep an eye for some skates no one wants.

Well done, Kathy- looks so cool. You "dolled" those pretty ice skates up perfectly, so clever.

I love the kind of decor that is easily changed up to incorporate all winter - smartly done. Hugs.

These are so pretty Kathy. I want a pair for next year and if I can't find old ones I am just buying a pair. They are hard to find.

Kathy the skates are perfect. Love how you decorated them. Great to leave out through the winter months. You sure got a great buy too. I search year round for skates but down here they are much more expensive when I
find them.

Great find, Kathy! I like ice skates as decoration too. Last year the kittens pulled off the fur but I'll glue it back on for my winter decor. Great idea with the Epsom Salts. I've to keep that in mind.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs,
Julia

Kathy,
Brilliant idea to use hair accessories on the skates. Now I'm wanting some for my house, too. Blogland gets me into so much trouble. :)
