A Holiday Afternoon Treat

SONY DSC

Not much going on here in my neck of the woods.  I finished wrapping all my gifts Tuesday night, so I can really sit back and just enjoy the holiday time now.  I’m looking forward to catching some of my favorite holiday movies (and if they are not on at a convenient time, I’ll just pop in the DVD’s).

Meanwhile, I’ve been saving my Christmas issue of The Cottage Journal for a quiet day and didn’t realize just how long I was saving it.  The new Winter 2015 issue came in the mail yesterday, so I decided to take some time to look through the Christmas issue before it was too late.  I got together a little tray with a gluten free chocolate chip muffin and a little egg nog.

I used a small red transferware dish I got from Christmas Tree Shop and the glass mug is from our local grocery store, Kroger (from a couple of years ago).   It was a cloudy, brisk day yesterday so I lit the tree and the fireplace.

And if that isn’t enough to warm me, I can always pull a throw over my legs as I enjoy one of my favorite magazines.  A nice holiday afternoon treat!

Are you done with your shopping?  Have you wrapped all your gifts up yet?  I am very glad to be done, having done my shopping both online and in-store.  It worked out very well for me this year doing both.

Kathy, your beautiful room looks like it is straight out of that Cottage Journal magazine! Everything is so cozy and warm. I hope to be finished with the last gifts on Monday (arriving via UPS...lol); and then, I can relax, too!

Kathy that last photo is so pretty!! Your room looks so festive and cozy with the fire going...I would have sat there all day looking through that wonderful magazine. I know what I'm picking up tomorrow.

I'm making most of our holiday gifts, knitting hat, gloves and slippers for the grand kids and DIL and SIL. Mr. C and I buy a gift together and this year it's a new laptop. Your room looks so cozy and love seeing the fire in the background. I don't buy magazine,I just think they are too much money. But I do love the Cottage Journal and pick up past issues from the antique mall I'm in! A very lovely room and hope you enjoy your relaxing time!

It all looks so cozy, Kathy! I'm right there with you, wrapped in a blanket and drinking tea by the fire! Glad your wrapping is done. I've done my husband's gifts only. Now for the three kids:) Friday night is family movie night: It's a Wonderful Life. My kids think it's corny but it's my favorite movie of all time. Merry Christmas!

I adore quiet times like this. Everything is so pretty, Kathy!

We sent gifts to the grandbabies (and all has arrived safely), but otherwise we don't exchange gifts anymore... keeping things simple.

Enjoy your Christmas!!!
Hugs,
Lin

Kathy, I'm with you! It's time for a fire, something yummy to eat, drink and watch Christmas movies. I have been keeping the Hallmark channel on and have enjoyed their movies so much! Your room is so pretty and cozy! It's a great place to curl up and enjoy the flavors of the season!

Kathy this is the perfect setting to enjoy the holiday relaxing. I too got all my shopping, wrapping and preparing early so it's been so nice to just enjoy and not rush around.
Your pics are so inviting and your home shows like a magazine feature.
Have a nice weekend.

What a cozy spot and how inviting the fireplace looks.
I used to go a Kroegering when I lived in Michigan. Do you have Vernors Ginger Ale? It is the best. All others pale in comparison.
I wanted to let you know the apron arrived and Oh.My.Goodness. It is the cutest thing ever.
And thank you for the lovely tags! I am using them as ornaments on my tree.
I am done shopping (except for a few gift cards) and wrapping except for an item which has not been delivered yet. I ended up baking more than I planned this year - and I feel like I wanted to tweak the decorating but there is plenty of time - I keep Christmas from the 24th of Dec to Jan 6th. Wishing you a Merry Christmas!

As for me, I'm done shopping, but didn't have much to get this year.
