Paint Is Great ~ A Small Change Can Make A Big Difference

Last week’s blizzard put a kink in my slipcover, since my friend, The Drapery Lady, could not get here to do the fitting, and the resultant icy streets made it difficult for her to get here in the evening during the week.

So I thought I’d just give you a peek of something else that received a makeover in this room while we wait.  The scroll grill above the picture over the sofa was purchased from Ballard Designs several years ago.  I purchased it in an aged cream color.  Since we painted the walls yellow, it pretty much blends in to the wall {as you can see from the picture below}.

I decided to spray paint it black to go with my new black and white look.  Here it is painted below.  I think it really “pops” off the wall now!

I’m thinking of painting the coffee table {which you can see in the first picture} black New Year’s weekend.  I’m hoping that I will have this room completed before the end of January.

I’m linking this post up to Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch.

Hi my design chum,

I giggled at your mom's sweet story.

I saw that you are using Live Writer. I am trying to find the link for this. It says that it is downloaded on my computer but so far no luck. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Love the scroll black and am looking forward to seeing the slipcover. The room is going to really pretty. Paint is wonderful. If you want the vent to disappear paint it the same as the wall.

Love it painted black, and I think the table in front of the sofa will look great black, too! Great job - can't wait to see it with the table painted, too! So glad I stopped by! Check in sometime ...

Hi Kathy. I love the scroll piece. What a great idea to paint the coffee table black. I can't wait to see the finished room.
Thanks for coming by to see my slipcover. Could you tell me how much you paid for yours. I would love to know more than just prices on line.
The sofa you're having covered seems to be the best shape for this.
Well, Thanks for anything you can tell me.
Kelly
