Since I took my mirror down to be painted, I took everything off my mantel. With the mirror going back up, I thought I’d do a post about decorating it. Let me just tell you that this is a difficult room to photograph, flash or no flash. I’ve got windows and a set of french doors, as well as two skylights in here, so trying to avoid a glare is near impossible. So I apologize for the pictures and the ceiling fans reflected in the mirror.
Here it is as a blank slate.
My hubby made this mantel and did the tile surround. I love the decorative moldings he used.
Let’s get the mirror back up there and in place. Lovely! So glad I painted it the Oil Rubbed Bronze and did the Rub n Buff.
Since I know my topiaries are going back up there, I’ll do them first.
Then the mantel clock I bought at a Florida flea market 15 years ago.
Now I’ll layer in my pictures that I did here, with the frames that I painted in Oil Rubbed Bronze.
Some books, and those fleurs and orbs I found at the dollar store {also painted in . . . you guessed it, Oil Rubbed Bronze}.
So happy I painted that mirror!
Linking up to the Vignette Party over at Beth’s, The Story of A to Z! Didn’t Beth do a pretty button for it? Be sure to come by and see what everyone else links up, too!

Your mantle looks really pretty. I love the oil rubbed bronze, too. It looks fantastic on your mirror. Your husband did such a nice job on the mantle and tile. Wow!
I have the same problem as you with photographing anything in my living room because of the light. Someone gave me the advice to stand back and zoom in on what I wanted to photograph and that we take care of the glare. Maybe this will help.
Hope you are having a nice week. I hope to be in the party next time!

Very pretty mantel :-) Your hubby did a great job building it, and you did a great job decorating it :-)
I've got the same "paint it oil rubbed bronze" bug that you have!! I've sprayed Dollar Store finds, switch plate covers, and floor vents so far. Who knows what will be my next victim -- anything that stands still is fair game!! ;-)

Oil rubbed bronze, my favorite paint fo all time. Love it. YOur mirror and all of your accessories look fabulous. Beautiful job and your photography is wonderful too. I also host a party every Tuesday called Table Top Tuesdays. This is where we show every kind of vignette or display possible on any surface in the house. Hope you will join us sometime. Hugs, Marty

Looks great how you layered pieces. I always have a hard time decorating my mantel. I was actually trying to redo it the other day, but haven't decided what to put on it.
I wish I had a mantel. =( The only thing close is the fake fireplace in the basement/family room. Sigh...
It looks lovely...that is some beautiful detailing! I giggled at your question...dirt dobber is probably a very Southern expression...but they look just like wasps, but good news...no stingers! :) shaunna
LOVE the look of the mantel. The paint is fabulous and can't wait for my can to arrive to get to my painting too.
That molding is simply gorgeous! I love the added greens and your ORB projects. I still need to find those DT finials...Great job - love the simplicity!
Lovely to see your vignette come to live! And yes, so good of you to paint the mirror, it looks wonderful.

Wow - your hubby did a great job with those decorative moldings! The mantel looks great! Found you through A Soft Place To Land's mantel party.
First visit to your blog via Kimba's Soft Place to Land. Your mantel is so elegant. I love how you balanced the reds and how they pop against the blacks. Thank you for sharing.
