Cabinet Risers

2013 01 18_0260

When I was moving things around in my whites cabinet, I realized that some of the pieces are the same size and can’t be easily seen.

I thought it would be a great solution if I could find something to raise a few of them up.  I found I had these wood discs {that were originally for another project} and a few glass candle sticks from the dollar store.

I painted the wood pieces in Pure White chalk paint and attached them to the glass candlesticks.

I put them in my whites cabinet and raised a few of those pieces up.  Here is a before.

After, with the riser.  I was able to use the space better and move the matching creamer near its sugar bowl.  Plus, I made a little more room for any new pieces I find to add in {because apparently I have a thing for little white creamers}.

Here’s a second one I added to the shelf above.

I still have the third one to put to use.  It adds some height to the items in the cabinet, while being unobtrusive, and now I can see all the pieces that I think are so pretty!

Love the idea of raising the back pieces...I did that with my glasses, I put a thick square board in the back and covered with drawer paper, sure could fit more and looks so much nicer, like yours...

That's a great idea! I have a few wooden ones I use and I often use a teacup with a plate on top as temporary riser.

Cute risers, Kathy. Great idea.

OMG! I love this idea so much. We have the plastic acrylic risers that I use at work all the time and am always wishing I had some for home because so many times I need just a bit more height. Yours are not only much more stylish, but they also encompass the clear aspect by using the candlesticks. I am going to have to steal your idea as well. Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful and economical idea. I love it!!!

Great idea! Your display is beautiful. The stands you made would make great cupcake stands too when they're not being used as risers!

Now, isn't that a clever idea! I really like the way the added height helps highlight those particular items. Good job, Kathy!

Great idea, Kathy! The clear candle sticks are a brilliant way to add height without drawing attention to the risers. A few small creamers have found their way into my home as well- I'll have to remember this if they continue to multiply. :)
