Getting It All Ready

I’m sure I’m doing this backwards from the way most people would show off a room redo, but I want to show you a couple of things I did before going in and finishing the decorating of my granddaughter’s room.  I promise, that post is coming!  I wanted to use clip-on rings for the drapery and I couldn’t find the off white or ivory color that I wanted to go with the rod. So I bought these silver ones at Target when I was there one day.

I had Heirloom White spray paint already and that was basically the color I wanted anyway.  So I took a wire hanger {one of the good times you can use them} and clipped the rings onto the hanger.

I hung this hanger from a bent up hanger in my garage to give them a quick spray.  With no additional cost, and maybe a half hour total to spray 14 clip-on rings, I got the color I wanted.

The second item I worked on was this blue frame I got at the Christmas Tree Shop on clearance.  It had no glass and this is how I got it for $.78.

The price stickers had been put on the front of the wood frame.  {Why, oh why, do they do that??}.

It has some paint chipped in parts, too.  I sanded and used WD-40 to get the label glue off.  Then I looked to see if I had any blue craft paint close to this color.  I also found an old frame I wasn’t using to take the piece of glass from.

I just painted the very front of the frame where I really wanted the coverage and left the lighter blue of the original color on the beveled edges.  With it’s little bit of distressing, I think it looks pretty good.

I added a picture of my granddaughter from when we did our Mad Hatter’s Tea Party last year {I can’t believe it’s almost a year ago!}.  This frame is now good to go!

Don’t forget to enter the Novica Giveaway going on through to March 23, 2012!

What a cute idea with the hanger. Love what you did to the frame as well. Why do they do that?

Great idea with the hanger. It's always tough to spray paint small items and not make a mess. I can't wait to see the room. I'm sure it will be amazing.

Smart way to spray! Things are looking good.

Your granddaughter is so cute in that picture.

Kathy, your granddaughter is just precious in that picture! Neat idea for spray painting clips. I need to try and remember that. It is aggravating when they place a price stickers to the front of anything....Ross' is famous for that! Hope you have a wonderful day, Gail

What a great idea! I never thought of painting over the color of the rings like that. That was a smart way to do it using a coat hanger too. Looking forward to seeing her new room.

What cute projects! Good deals too. The picture of your grand baby is just adorable! My brother in-law is an artist and has drawn some really amazing Disney pics, his Alice in Wonderland is my fave. Your theme just reminded me of it... Have a great day, Kathy!

I have never understood what they are thinking when putting price tags on the front - especially the kind that don't come off easily. Stellar photo of your grandaughter!

I can't wait to see the finished room Kathy! And yes, I hate it when price tags are on the front of things and leave stains or sticky stuff. Why?!! Angie xo
