Friday evening, when I was heading home after meeting with my client, I saw this small dresser someone was getting rid of in their garbage on the side of the road.
I couldn’t stop at the time and tried not to give it a second thought. Sunday I gave it a second thought! I asked my son to come with me to see if it was even still there and, if it looked okay, help me load it up and bring it home. Good son that he is, he went with a friend and, based on my directions to the spot, they picked it up and brought it home.
The chest/dresser is 30 1/2 inches tall and 31 inches across. It had three drawers but, as you can see from the pictures, two are missing and the third has no knobs. I like the legs, the top and apron, and the basic overall shape to it. I think it has some potential.
I’ve got a couple of ideas for where I could use it, but for now, I’m going to get her cleaned up; fix those missing drawer areas {I’m thinking baskets of some kind}; and paint her.
I think this could be a versatile piece for use in a laundry room, kitchen, office, bedroom, mudroom ~ you get the idea.

Oh Kathy, what a great road side find! Can't wait to see what you do with this piece. Love the legs on the dresser.
Enjoy your day,

I just have to laugh, on the side of the road! I couldn't stumble across a piece like this if I tried! You've got some great ideas for it! Janell
Hi Kathy what a lovely find. It really does have a beautiful shape.

Boy, I'm tellin' ya, you girls have all the luck finding fantastic pieces of trash on the side of the road...I love this piece. I think some baskets would look fabulous and it's just the right size to fit just about anywhere, bathroom, kitchen, small foyer...You'll have to keep us posted on the redo.
Great piece Kathy! I just know you are going to work your magic on it and it will be beautiful.

Oh my goodness!! You have SUCH A FUN blog!! I look forward to following you in all your adventures!!
Thank you for leaving me your kind comments. I'm so new to this blogging thing, but I'm addicted already!!
Nice dresser. You're right, I see potential there too. Hehehe...you're lucky to have a son that will go and pick up something from the side of the road. My son is 14 and he thinks I'm crazy when I do things like that. But when he sees the final product, he thinks "It's sweeeeet!!"
Some of us just have the ability to picture something grand, while others just see it as it is. I think it's a gift ;)
Have a great week!!
Yes! Baskets in the missing drawer areas!
Fantastic idea. Can't wait to see how it turns out. I had my husband pick up a dresser on a curb in town last summer and it turned out great after a little redo as well.
I'll be waiting to see what happens.

Hi Kathy, I bet this piece will look wonderful when you get done with it. I love the basket idea! Thanks for your nice comments on my patios! I hope it warms up soon up north! Kristen
I can't believe the dresser was still there on Sunday! I guess other people just didn't have your vision on what this piece could become. Love your ideas and look forward to seeing the finished piece!

I would do exactly what you did! Bless my husband's heart, he's had to pull things out people's trash for me! : )
And I love the idea of baskets in place of those missing drawers. Too cute.
Hi Kathy, I see these great things bloggers find curb side. Our city does not allow any thing to be put on the curb unless it fits in their trashcan. Sigh! Great find and baskets will be wonderful in the missing drawers.
Hugs,
Sherry
Oooh, I can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve for this little dandy! I know you'll come up with something marvelous - that you can link to next week's party. ;)
