Let me preface this post by saying that this booth is a work in progress right now. I plan on adding pieces in as I find them and I have lots of ideas for decorating it. My space is 8 x 10 and in a new place call Peddler’s Mall. There is space for 275 vendors, although not all spaces are taken yet. This is my first booth space ever! Opening day was April 1st. With Easter and my renting the booth just a few days before Easter weekend I was scrambling to get things together for it. The Saturday before Easter, I brought in what I had so far.
My plans are to add in shutters to each side entrance side wall; a bi-fold door from my friend, Sue, to add to the one corner in the back; a burlap banner against the back wall {above the chalkboard}; a large piece like a buffet {but I haven’t seen anything yet and may just have to get a folding table and cover it with a tablecloth}. These things would be my base and “not for sale” items.
You are not allowed to paint the walls, use peg board on the wall, or attach fabric in a permanent manner. You can hang rods and put your fabric on that. Who knew 8 x 10 could be a big space to fill when you need to really fill it! I know it doesn’t look like much now, but, as I said, it is the early stages. There is a big community garage sale here the first weekend in May and I am hoping to find some furniture then.
I’m excited and anxious at the same time, but I’m really looking forward to fixing up my booth. I should be a little further with it by the end of next week so I will share pictures as it comes along. Suggestions are always welcome!

Having a space is a lot of work, but lot's of fun! sounds exciting to be in a new place!
Looks like you are off to a good start! I think the pieces you are planning on adding will make a huge difference. Can you put nails in the walls? If not, try those 3m strips. GOOD LUCK!

Kathy, we'll get there soon enough, I'm still adding.... My hoarding tendencies must not be as bad as I thought they were, cuz I'm still looking for.Junque to fill my space! LOL
I love , love, love that "tuffet." :-) Sue
Oh and what about a quilt holder (I know that's not the right name, the free-standing thing that you can hang quilts from) for your towels??????

Congratulations on your new booth! That's a big step to take, and I admire your courage. Wish you could shop our Salvation Army's half-price days. You could fill it up in no time!
Best wishes,

That's so exciting. Good luck to you.
Oh how fun. You have some fabulous things so far, can't wait to see it all done. Hugs, Marty
This is a great space for you, Kathy! I know in time it will be overflowing. Best wishes!
XO,
Jane
Best of luck Kathy!! You have some great pieces in there already!
Hi Kathy, You are off to a great start. I know the work involved having had booth space for 10 years in Texas and several more in Ohio. It evolves as you go along and it really will fill up fast as you work it. Love your items already. Wish I could come shop with you. Sounds like a big mall with 275 sellers. Have fun, best wishes and enjoy the process.
Hugs, Celestina Marie
Exciting times Kathy. I might not have the energy to fill a booth. I went junking with my friend who has two booths today and we found an European bed, blue and beautiful-possibly an opium bed.
What fun..Good luck to you..
A great beginning, Kathy. Good luck setting up everything you've planned. I'll be watching for your posts that show how your space is coming along.
How exciting! Can't wait to see the shutters up. I think the table will look great. :)
Have an idea--- Can you prop a painted wooden ladder across the corner (on top of the side walls). It would give you a lattice look from which you could hang something.
Oh Lucky you to have a place to have a booth that sounds so promising. 8x10 is big! You will so enjoy filling and creating this space too. I am envious and happy for you! Best wishes for much success!
it is getting there! what a great space!
Hi Kathy, looks like your off to a good start, can't wait to see more pictures.
Hugs~~~ Daphne
I think you're heading in the right direction, Kathy. You have such great creations. 8x10 doesn't sound like much, till you have to fill it. I know you'll have it the way you want. Large painted, or wallpapered boards work well as backdrops.
Good luck with your new booth! We also just moved into a new mall. I have a LONG way to go building my inventory. Luckily, there are three of us so I have help filling our space.
I think the booth is looking great, Kathy! It must be so exciting. I so want to have another booth some day here. With the advent of Pinterest though I feel like styles have changed so much and maybe I wouldn't do very well at it. Oh, well. I'll probably try again some day anyway. Do you find many of those oval gold frames in your area? I have been looking for four of them and cannot find them in the Grand Rapids area like I could in the Detroit area. Have a great week planning and buying for your booth. ~ Jamie
Oh Kathy, you're off to a great start! You have some wonderful ideas for your booth and filling it does take time. My booth space is forever changing. Enjoy your day, Gail
How exciting for you Kathy! I love what you've done so far. You will just love having a booth. Especially how us decorators switch things out as much as we do - now you will have a place to put your overflow and get some money for it! LOL
I wish you much success on this new venture!!
xoxo,
Kim
Just don't cram so much in people can't get to stuff! There are a couple of booths like that in the place I like to shop at and it's so hard to see stuff. You're off to a great start!
Your off to a great start, and you are so lucky to get in on the ground floor with a newly opened mall. A space is ever evolving. To me it's like the house that never get's finished, but what's fun is you can change your look whenever you like. Have a great time with it.
