Laundry Room Update

Unfortunately, I don’t have The Artist Behind The Etsy post today, as the person I had lined up did  not get back to me with her post. I am sharing our laundry room update in its stead.

Well, after almost three years of waiting, my husband finally put in a longer counter in our laundry room.  Here is what it looked like until last week.  This picture is from last summer, after the room received a fresh coat of a lighter color paint.

When we moved in there was a utility sink between the cabinet and the dryer.  We never had a utility sink at our old house and didn’t feel that we needed one now so he pulled it out shortly after we moved in.  That allowed us room to put a rolling laundry cart with four laundry sorters.

And here is the new counter top!

I love it!  This will make it easier to fold clothes, since I have the raisers on the front loading washer and dryer.  It will also give me a little more room to spread out if I am doing a craft project.  The laundry sorter is on wheels and will be easy enough to move out when I am doing laundry.

I’m not done with this area, though, and here is a hint (through pictures) of what else I have done and will be sharing soon.

Love the curtains storage under sink and the floor.

Can you guess what it is?

Hi Kathy,
Your laundry room looks great! I'd love to have the luxury of a long counter top like yours. I have always wanted one. My guess is that you are going to add a skirt to the counter. Whatever you do I'm sure it will look fabulous!!!

Very nice! I love the skirt idea. I have enjoyed the one I put on my baker's rack as it is much prettier than the jumble of things I store under there.
Have a great day, Kathy!

Adding a ruffled skirt? Love that look - those photos are fab! Would love to clean up my laundry area but the oil tank makes it almost impossible.

LOL! I think so. Your laundry room is looking cute! Mine is the garage which is hard to do anything with but we spruced it up bit recently.

I'm guessing a skirt under the counter? Your laundry room is beautiful!

Hmmmm, I'm guessing a skirt for under the counter? :) The new counter is awesome ... I'm envious! The perfect place to fold clothes OR put another one of your beautiful vignettes!

Ooh, how decadent to have a nice big counter top in the laundry. :) We only had room for the washer and dryer in our previous house. Now, well, a nice big laundry at the campground. Unfortunately, it eats quarters by the handful. :P

Love what you've done already with the shelf, and I bet you're adding a ruffled curtain.

I'm thinking a skirt of some sort? You're so good with ruffles....:)I love the counter idea! My laundry room has a bit of counter but it's pretty small. I also really wish that we had the risers on the washer/dryer because it's killing my back without them! I think we skipped them because they were so ridiculously expensive (for what they were). Love your new look!

My guess it...a ruffled skirt?! Do I get a prize? Haha Can't wait to see it! I'm dying to do something with our laundry room but it's always one of those spaces at the bottom of the list. Yours is so functional!

Your laundry room looks great, Kathy! I always thought that condos had laundry "closets," but this looks like a real room, and you're making it look great! I imagine you're about to make a skirt for under the counter, and then it'll look even better! Wish you could come to my house and help with some sewing projects!
