Magnetic Makeup Holder

2013 09 16_2506

Recently, Brewster Home Fashions generously sent me some sample wallpapers from their collections to utilize in some projects.  I’ve got lots of ideas for these samples and today I’d like to share one of those projects with you.

You might recall I found this picture at a garage {or estate} sale not too long ago and I really just bought it for the frame.  I removed the print and glass, and painted the frame with Old White Chalk paint.  I then added a glaze to it to pick up on the decorative detailing with some brown craft paint.  I chose the Belle Maison Flourish Blue Cameo Fleur sample paper that I received from Brewster and attached that to some foam core that I cut to the size of the opening {I used the cardboard backing as a template}.

I also picked up this screening, which apparently has a lot of uses.

I used the glass from the picture to measure for the screening size needed.  I had to get my husband’s help with the screening because it was a bit difficult to cut.  He had to use his Rotozip tool.

The great thing about this screening is that it is magnetic, so this project can be used as a memo board, or

To hold jewelry, or

in this case, to hold makeup!

Some magnets attached to the makeup makes it easy.  This will be going home with my daughter to hang in her bathroom, and will make for an easy and attractive way for her to get at her makeup easily.

Hanging makeup is a very creative idea. Those single eye shadows get lost easily. Well done Kathy.

Beautiful Kathy! I've never seen that magnetic screening before but what a great idea. I'll have to think of a way to use it.
