When we moved from New York to Ohio 2 1/2 years ago, into a condo, I never thought I’d be sharing an outdoor project with you. Except for when I showed you the bush we removed and replaced with a small Japanese Maple, or the different flowers I pot up for our little outdoor seating area.
We have talked about putting a patio in this area. Just up to where you can see the a/c unit. It would basically measure out to 7 ft. by 13 ft.
This would extend our seating area, as well as allow us to keep our BBQ here instead of stored in the garage (and pulling it out on the driveway area when we want to use it). We had to put some border fencing up because our 14-year-old Husky keeps getting herself tangled up in the bushes on her lead.
We would use grey toned flagstone or patio pavers, and put a vinyl white picket fence around it for a little bit of privacy and in keeping with the rest of the community. You can see the style of fence in the first picture of a condo across the way from us. The existing bushes we will move forward to the outside of the fence, as well as the Japanese Maple.
We’ll be doing the work ourselves. I’d like to say this will be a weekend project, but my gut says “uh-uh”. Either way, I’ll be sure to share our progress!
That is going to give you a whole new living space. What a great plan!
It will be gorgeous, Kathy! You live in such a pretty home & area!
We're putting in walkways & a patio this summer, and although Hubby tried talking me into doing it ourselves, I instead reminded him how old we are getting to be and talked him into hiring a landscaper (800 sq ft project).
You're smart to take your time on this project! I look forward to seeing it!!!
I think it's a great idea! Definitely looking forward to seeing your progress. The outside looks so pretty too!
Oh you will enjoy this new space so much. That's big enough for a table and chairs too. Love that.
good luck and take breaks. its gonna be hot:)
we need to do some planting in the front here.. I like most of it but miss my hostas and ornamental grasses..
That will be really pretty and great to be able to barbeque when you want without it being a hassle. You must live in good condo community. My parents have such a hard time getting anything approved.
Hi Kathy, it will be beautiful and give you such a great space to enjoy. I know the work involved so I can relate. Have fun and enjoy the process.
It's such a pretty little garden now, it's going to look amazing when you tweak it! Love seeing the outside of your home too, such gorgeous stone :)
How exciting! I'm sure it'll go great, and you'll be able to enjoy it this summer. Love the white fence idea. Good luck! xoKathleen
Sounds like a great idea Kathy..Love Japanese Maples..
Kathy, this sounds like a great idea! I can't wait to follow along with the progress! I know it will be so nice to have the extra area.
You already have a very pretty small area and I love your shrubs and greenery. I cannot wait to see your magic.
Kathy, based on your descriptions, I can visualize it all; and it is going to be wonderful! Can't wait to see it all come together!
I am so happy for you, Kathy. You are going to love having this space to use! I can't wait to see pictures of it as you go along xo Diana
The garden looks lovely! It must be great to have an outdoor area! Can't wait to see all the changes, and perhaps a picture of the husky!
Great idea Kathy! You would not believe all the outdoor projects my Mom has done at her townhouse. Small space huge impact.
Can't wait to see it done! I know it will be beautiful. Enjoy your weekend! Maria
Sounds fabulous and I love a white picket fence! You guys are ambitious and I can't wait to see what it looks like done.
Will be watching to see your project! We have started an outside project also. I am not going to share the demo phase - some things are better NOT preserved for posterity!
Kathy, this is a great idea. I have a feeling you're right--I'm betting this will be more than a weekend project! But I'm sure you can do it, and what a nice space you'll have then! Your condo development is so nice, and what you've described will be beautifully in keeping with the tone of it. Looking forward to seeing the finished project!
