Some Completed Projects

You may recall my Decoupage Day post here. I finished those projects {except for the Family sign ~ just not feeling that one} and here they finally are.

This one wasn't in the line-up for decoupage; it was just waiting for Glue Gun Night. Here are the components to this project.

A white tray from Michael's, unfinished wood balls {with a flat side}, scrap book paper and, below, these were unfinished wood fleur de lis that I painted black.

What I liked about the tray was that it came with a piece of plastic/plexi so that you can put something under it ~ pictures, scrapbook paper, fabric, anything flat and it would be protected by the plastic. This allowed me to use scrapbook paper just placed there {after cutting and taping to size} and I can change it out throughout the year. I will put a Christmas themed paper in there soon.

I painted the round balls white and glued them to the bottom of the tray as feet. I painted the fleur de lis black and hot glued them to each long side of the tray. That's this easy project done!

Since it can't always be about me, I now need to move onto making gifts!

Dotting my i's, Crossing my t's and Papering my P's

My daughter showed too much of an interest in my beautiful frame that I purchased from Kristen. To distract her and make sure the frame didn't leave with her, I showed her a "P" I had bought at Michael's to either paint or cover with scrap book paper for my own home. It worked ~ she liked it and I showed her the scrap book papers I was considering. Now she really liked it. I told her she could have it {sigh} and that I would make it pretty for her and her apartment.

This past weekend I was back at Michael's {yet again} and purchased craft paint that worked with the paper she chose {to use on the inside part of the P and the outer edge}.

Here are the supplies for this project:

1 - Letter of your choice. I got a P for our last name.

2 - Sponge brushes. I just bought a pack of 4 at Michael's.

1 - Craft paint that coordinates with your scrap book paper. Mine is a metallic called Moss Pearl.

1 - Scrap book paper sheet of your choice. This was a nice green with gold in it. {Picture above shows mine already cut out}.

1 - Jar of Mod Podge.

I traced the P on the back side of the scrap book paper with a pencil, lining it up so that the gold scroll part would be on the long line of the P. I cut that all out and made sure it fit on the top of the P. Next, I painted the inside portion and edges of the P and let that dry. I went over it a second time just to make sure there was no streaking or white showing through.

Once that dried, I applied my mod podge to the back of the scrap book paper P and on the face of the P itself. I very carefully put the paper P on top of the wooden P and made sure it was aligned. I then let this dry and then applied some mod podge on top. Here's the finished product.

It does have a little keyhole hanging hole on the back, but my daughter has those ledge shelves to put it on and it can just lean. I think I prefer that look better.

The craft paint turned out to be a perfect match to the scrap book paper, too. Don't you love when that happens?
