Toile Runner

SONY DSC

Since I put all the Christmas decorations away, I am trying to come up with some different vignettes.  One area I want to do differently is the chest I use as a buffet in our dining area.  I love brown and white transferware {well, I love all transferware really} and wanted to do something that included the transferware topiary I purchased from Nancy of Nancy’s Daily Dish last year.

I bought it specifically for this wire cloche and, while I had this cloche here before Christmas, I wanted to mix things up a little bit.  I also wanted to use some fabric on this buffet, so I went to my fabric bins and found this brown and white toile that I had used for my sewing table’s skirt.

Of course, it had to have a ruffle, so I used some scraps of Osnaberg that I had saved.  I measured the buffet top, cut and sewed the sides, then added the ruffle fabric to the ends.

I just received something I ordered off Etsy and will be putting my new vignette together today.   I need to iron the runner, too, but couldn’t wait to see how it looked on.

I'm with you Kathy, I love any color transferware! I saw those pretty topiaries Nancy makes when I bought my red transferware plates from her last year. It looks so pretty under that cloche, and I love the new table runner you made!! Wish I knew how to sew!

I like that cloche too! Your table runner is beautiful. Can you believe that in all this time I still haven't made one for myself yet? It's near the top of the list...I just can't seem to get one made. Yours might be the nudge I need!

Your vignette with the cloche is lovely. The runner softens the darker furniture-something I'm trying to do. Thanks for the inspiration today!

I'm not sure I have ever seen brown and white toile fabric. Brown and white transferware, yes, but even that is not very plentiful. The ruffle was the perfect finishing touch.
