Guest Bedroom Decor For Spring/Summer

I’m trying to plan ahead for a few things I’d like to do in the guest bedroom.  Here is how the guest room currently looks.

One of the things on the list is to paint this armoire in Old White chalk paint.

While it worked fine black in a guest bedroom in our old house, I’ve been thinking for awhile now that it would look better, in this room in our condo, white.  Keeping with the lightening up, I found some bedding at Ikea that I’d like to incorporate.

This is the Alvine Kvist bedding.  I figure if I pick up a couple of pieces a month, it won’t be a budget breaker.   Then in Fall/Winter, I can go back to the darker {warmer} feeling with the blue and brown.  I’ve never bought bedding from Ikea before, so if you have any experience with it, I’d be glad to hear about it.

The armoire will look so pretty white! I have a throw blanket from Ikea and it's nice. Good quality but don't know about the sheets and such. It's usually priced well so how can you go wrong?

Your guest room is beautiful, as is (including your gorgeous armoire dressed in black); however, I love the idea of you painting it Old White! And, I also love IKEA bedding ... I have one of their down comforters with one of their white duvet covers (forgot the name) on our bed. You just can't beat the price ... the one you have your eye on will be fabulous in there!

I like the floral pattern, Kathy. I bought a duvet cover at IKEA last fall and returned it. It was poorly made and I did not see the quality until I got it home. It was also too short for my comforter. Make sure you know your measurements. :-)

A few years ago I bought my daughter sheets, duvet cover, shams for her college room...they lasted a few years and really took a beating! Something to think about though, if you only buy a few pieces at a time, what will you do if they no longer carry the patten before you finish buying every thing you want? I love this pattern - just wish we lived near an Ikea (and I LOVE their restaurant!!)

Hi Kathy, It is going to be gorgeous. I think the cabinet will be so pretty paintedd. Love the floral pattern but have not tried Ikea's bedding, so not sure how they would hold up. I did purchase some kitchen towels and they did not hold up to washing.

Have fun with your redo. I went from black to white in our master with black toile bedding. For spring and summer, I add a bit of aqua for an accent. Looking forward to your pics when done.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs, Celestina Marie

Dearest Kathy,
Hope you still will get your complete set of bedding at IKEA if you buy it in batches...! That's always a risk.
It looks nice though and to brighten up any room is always worth it.
Hugs to you and happy weekend.

You have a great room here, I really love the armoire. I don't have any linens from IKEA but I always think of their things as being something you would not want to take a beating...which might work in a guest room that isn't used on a day to day basis. I have a throw from there that I found for $10.00 and it's great so far, has held up to several washings, so maybe I'm wrong. Just heard bad things about the furniture.

Maybe you should invest in the comforter/duvet and shams at once in case they are discontinued and then pick up sheet and pillowcases as you go along.

XO,
Jane
