Nice News

I had some nice news recently that I thought I would share.  Both came within a couple of weeks of each other and I hope it is a sign of more to come!

Women’s World magazine contacted me to use my toile lampshade makeover from my master bedroom in a feature they are doing on toile.  That will be in the May 4th issue.

Then I was contacted through an Etsy convo for the show Cowboy Builders, which airs on channel 5 in Britain, for permission to use a picture of a table I made-over a few years ago {the one pictured below} for a mood board for one of the episodes.

I still have this table in our current living room.

I don’t have a date on that, and who knows if it will even make the edits, but it was nice to be found {through Pinterest, no less!}.  So any of you who read my blog that live “across the pond”, let me know if you see it!

Cowboy Builders

Yup, so that’s my nice news and very exciting for me, I  might add!

Custom Order

I just finished up a custom order today.  A pillow cover with an anatomical skeleton image. This image is from The Graphics Fairy.

SONY DSC

You might remember this image from a post about a pillow I made for my son.  He is an Athletic Trainer and I thought he would get a kick out of this image.  A picture of his pillow is below.

SONY DSC

This pillow has proven very popular on Pinterest and I believe that is actually how the buyer found me and contacted me through my Etsy.  This pillow is also going to be a gift for a son; a medical student, from what I understand.

SONY DSC

I’m doing pillow covers with an envelope backing rather than full pillows now.  The pillows take up too much room on my craft sewing room shelf space and, as room is at a premium in there to begin with, pillow covers make more sense storage-wise, plus they will be less expensive.

SONY DSC

Feel free to contact me for a custom order.  Most of the time I can do what is asked for (and will tell you if I can’t).  I hope the recipient of this pillow cover will enjoy it!

Forcing Spring

SONY DSC

It seems like Spring is taking its time here in Ohio.  There’s the odd crocus blooming here and there, but just a hint of yellow where daffodils will be in full glory soon (I hope).  The weather this week seems to be more consistently above 55 degrees and the grass is greening up a bit.  It’s taking a bit too long for my liking to fully arrive though!

SONY DSC

When I went food shopping last night, I stopped at the stands they had set up outside with flowers.  I couldn’t take it anymore, so I bought two Martha Washington geraniums, a $5.00 pot of pansies for my outdoor table, and a purple tulip for my dining room table.

SONY DSC

If Spring won’t give me flowers naturally, I will just have to bring it to my front door.  Literally!

I will restrain myself for the next month and wait until the last frost before I buy any plants for the beds.

SONY DSC

I think this will hold me over for now!  Have you bought any plants yet?

Craft Room Organizer

The last frontier in my craft room ~ the back of the door.  I thought I had used every inch of space I possibly could in this small storage room that I took over for my craft room when we moved from Long Island to Ohio 3 1/2 years ago.  Well, now I have!

SONY DSC

I purchased a canvas shoe organizer with 24 pockets (Amazon.com).

I have loved seeing these pocket organizers, that look like shoe organizers, from fellow bloggers.  You can see these, and a few others, on my Pinterest board, Craft Sewing Rooms.

I decided to go the lazy way by using the shoe organizer for my base and embellishing it to get the same look as my inspiration pictures above.  I pulled together different trims, laces, napkins, handkerchiefs, fabric scraps, etc., and laid them out on the pockets to see how I wanted them.

SONY DSC

Then I just used hot glue to adhere the different embellishments to the pockets or along the sections of the organizer.

SONY DSC

I will continue to embellish this as time goes on and I find pieces of trim, fabric and lace that I like and think will look pretty on this organizer.

SONY DSC

Meanwhile, for ease of labeling to know what is in each pocket, I used some plain tags I had and an alphabet stamp set for labeling each pocket.  I’ll continue to do that as I decide what I want to put in each pocket.

SONY DSC

I also used some decorative clothes pins I had in my supplies to clip the tags (tied with string) to the pocket.

SONY DSC

I hope to use this organizer for all those little things I pick up at the craft store that I just don’t have a spot for in the drawers.  Plus, I don’t want them to get lost by me just sticking them in a random drawer.

This will help me to keep things organized.  And in a pretty way!

Now to get the second half done!  I’ll share this again once I have the whole thing done.

Adding To The Bunny Collection

Like I need more bunnies! I just couldn’t resist my two newest additions.  I was in our local Home Goods/TJ Maxx the other night and saw this bunny spoon rest.

SONY DSC

You would think I do a lot of home cooking that requires lots of stirring, as I now have four spoon rests.

SONY DSC

The leaves pictured on the handle also come over each side, too.

My second find were these cute little salt and pepper shakers from Cracker Barrel.

SONY DSC

These little guys were $.99 each so I had to get them.  They will take up residence in my whites cabinet when not in use.

SONY DSC

Finally, I thought I’d share some of the other bunnies and Easter décor I got out.  This is in the living room.

SONY DSC

I also found (online) a few weeks ago these faux chocolate bunnies.  I added them to my dining room buffet.  The yellow eyes are a bit creepy, but they do have the real chocolate bunnies with yellow eyes.

I fell in love with these faux chocolate bunnies when I found this one at an antique store a couple of years ago.

SONY DSC

I like this ones eyes a lot better.

More bunnies added to the collection!  Some will stay out all year long, while others I put away; and then I enjoy them more when they come out for a visit.
