I took off a couple of days last week and headed to the Habitat Restore one morning. I wasn’t really sure what I would find there, but was keeping an open mind.
They had baskets galore! Every shape and size; many with store tags still on them. Knobs, hinges, plumbing, some great chandeliers to redo, doors all over and what I wound up buying.
Three cabinet door samples from two shelves full! I chose these colors because I figured they would save me on painting, but they had dark woods, too. These were $.50 a piece! I only got three so I could play around and see if I liked what I came up with for them. If they turn out good, I’ll go back and get more.
This one larger cabinet door to do a vinyl something or other on it. This one was $5.50. I have a great idea for the ones with holes in the corners, too. If I snip the back off a matching button, I can attach it to the other side.
I passed on another type {I think they were probably for drawer fronts because they looked about that size}, but realized after I got home just what I could do with them, so I will be making a trip back for those.
While it may not be a windfall thrift store trip, I could definitely see going back for more specific things at the Restore. In my case, these cabinet doors and samples! These are a perfect size for me to play around with in the evenings after the day job. I hope to have some ideas to show you next week.
My Cottage Charm Giveaway runs through until May 29th! Don’t forget to enter ~ I’m giving away one of my triple ruffled table runners!

Wow, I didn't know about this. I just looked it up and there is one here in Sacramento! I'll have to go check it out one of these days not just for repurposing but perhaps find something we can use in the house!!
Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Love your restore finds. I go at least once a week to ours- and have a garage full of cabinet doors. I use them ALL the time :)
Love the ReStore! I try to get there each time I'm in Rochester(there isn't one in our city.) I love how you never know what you might find there. Can't wait to see what you do with your doors. Thanks for sharing.
I love that you could see doing something creative with these doors...I wish I thought like you! Good luck with your projects!
XO,
Jane
I'm glad you discovered your local Restore! Just a word of warning: stock doesn't always stick around for long, so don't dawdle getting back there for those other cabinet doors/fronts! :)
Baskets....I wish our Restore had them. Love your cabinet doors. Can't wait to see what you do with them.
Enjoy your day,
Gail
Wow! Those are terrific finds! I can't wait to see what you come up with! Angie xo
Compared to what I read online, our restore is very limited and basic. Still, you never know one day to the next what could be there. Ours are only open Friday and Saturday (those good yard saling days) so I don't get there often.
I know of 3, each in a different direction, a half hour from me. I should check the other direction too.
You have some cute ideas.
How cool! I wonder if we have one? Gonna go check it out, THANKS!
Those doors are a fun find, Kathy...lots of possibilities! Looking forward to seeing how you use them!
Very cool! Wonder if there is one by me???

You did great girl!! You got some great deals - and it sounds like your store has tons of stuff! Love the button idea too! Oh, and by the way, I love the headboard you got too!
I can't wait to see what you so with these. I wish we had a restore around me. I am always so intrigued by what others seem to find in them.
love what you got Kathy.. I need to go to the restore myself and look around..
