French Country

The stinky thing about food shopping with your spouse {or significant other} is that if you say "no" to the chocolate that is 10 for $10.00 then your spouse {or significant other} will, in turn, say "no" to you trying to stick some decorating magazines in the cart.

Well somehow the Fall/Winter 2009 Country French book {and I say book rather than magazine because for $9.99 it is not a magazine} found it's way into our green, environmentally friendly Stop & Shop grocery sacks {along with 10 chocolate bars for $10.00}.

Country French Spring/Summer 2009 cover

I didn't believe that I had any one particular style that I would say straight out that I like, but I was in heaven just a few pages into this book! I am SO loving French Country! I am working on getting the scanner to work with my laptop so I can share these pictures with you. I'll do a Part Deux when that's done. In the meantime, I found some pictures that I also liked and thought I'd share them here.

I think I've pinpointed the inspiration for our next home's decor!

If you have any other resources that you'd like to share, please let me know in the comments section and I'll add it here in the post {with appropriate credit given}.

They are all fabulous! I may need to get a copy of the *book* for myself ~ great ideas!

There is something very opulent about French Country, with it's ruffles, abundant fabrics, and golden yellow hues!

It's beautiful - can't wait to see more.

Yellow and french country seem to go hand it hand so what's not to like?

Jo ~ These are nothing compared to what I was loving in this book! Everything that I'm planning to do (like white slipcovers) were shown in the rooms. I am hoping to get the pictures up this week.

I realized as I was putting these particular pictures in, Vitania, just how much yellow figured into the pictures I liked. It could explain why I have four rooms in my house with variations of yellow walls!

I agree, Maria! It seems I love it all!

I love the style too. I can't wait to see the pictures from the magazine (I'm going on vacation next week, so I may just pick one up for myself!).

I love that home office, Michelle. I'm always on the look out for functional, yet pretty home offices.

I wouldn't have thought French Country right off the bat for my decorating style, but looking around my home, and realizing what I'm planning once we eventually move, it turns out it is! I thought I was more eclectic.

I also own this "book" and just love, love, LOVE it. Slowly but surely our rooms are being transformed.

I know I'm going to be looking through this again and again, Laura.

I love those canopies over a bed, Miss Evie.

I for one can't wait until you and hubby move into your new place... I'll be gobbling up each post you publish, showcasing your home decorating plans and results!!

Thanks so much for stopping by DesignTies earlier this week and commenting on my land/hardscaping project post. Yes, Brian and I are very proud of the way things are turning out!! I'm really looking forward to getting some grass and a tree planted before the winter, though... I'm very tired of all the dirt!

LOL, Victoria! I am sure you are tired of looking at dirt!

I hope that if we sell before the winter {we'll be taking it off before the holidays because I'd like to celebrate them without dealing with showings, and then putting it back on in Spring} I'll remember to take "before" pictures of every room! I'd love to be able to share that journey here.

We need a new couch for our well used living room. Can you help define what makes a couch fit a casual French Country styled home? There are so many options!
I have white wooden furniture and oak floors, and spa blue-green walls with a mixed gray and gold limestone fireplace. WT
