Design Book Library ~ Where Women Create

Not only is there a beautiful magazine called Where Women Create, but these next two books, which I discovered through fellow bloggers, Where Women Create : Inspiring Work Spaces Of Extraordinary Women by Jo Packham and Where Women Create : Book of Inspiration, by Jo Packham and Jenny Doh, provide plenty of inspiration.

I remember buying them when I had no creative space except for my kitchen table.  These books had pictures I dreamed and drooled over.  I thought these books would be appropriate this week, since Karen from My Desert Cottage’s Where Bloggers Create linky party is coming up on July 12th.

Where Bloggers Create

Some names of those featured may be familiar to some of you.  Remember Kitty Bartholomew?  I just loved her show on HGTV.

Last week’s design book feature, Carolyn Westbrook, is also featured in the Where Women Create : Inspiring Work Spaces Of Extraordinary Women.  These first pictures are from this book.

These next few pictures are from the Book of Inspiration.  This book features Ashley Carter, Lori Oles, Pam Garrison, and many more.

Great use of spaces that look like attics, basements, spare bedrooms, dining rooms, any place you can set yourself up to be creative.

I know that blogs and Pinterest can give you plenty of pictures with ideas for your own creative spaces, and Karen’s linky party is a great place to get inspired, but there is nothing like having a book that you can just pull off the shelf and look at the pictures up close and in-depth.

If only I were creative so I'd have a need for a room like those. The books look wonderful anyway. How can you not be inspired by that?

I still create at the kitchen table, but was inspired to find that a few of the woman featured in 'Where Women Create : Inspiring Work Spaces Of Extraordinary Women' also do.

Since I live in such a tiny cottage (375 sq. ft. big), I decided that the entire house is my studio since my artwork & supplies are spread throughout the house. :)

I LOVE this series you're doing, Kathy. How wonderful it must be to have so many beautiful books at your fingertips!

Have a happy one,
Lin

Morning Kathy, Oh My! What beautiful places (rooms) to create! One space is as lovely as the other! I will tinker in being a little creative but not like I used to...but I still love junkin'! So I mix the two on an easier, less consuming schedule! I know you love to create and it's so much enjoyment seeing those creations....always gives us "older gals" inspiration! Blessings and have a wonderful Holiday~~~Roxie

So many great ideas in the WWC magazine! I totally forgot about the linky party. I was determined to join this year but it's not looking good. =(

Oh one of these days I truly hope to be able to have the money to finish the basement - it is humongous and has such potential..........these rooms really are inspirational.

Thanks, Kathy!

Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs.

Hi Kathy, I have had both these books for about 5 years and love them. They are ones I refer to often when I need some inspiration for my creative space. The WWC book you share was the first one printed before the magazine came out.
It is just filled with dream spaces!!
Have a wonderful 4th of July!!

Wow no way I could keep up with them. I guess that's why they're in magazines and I'm not. Have a great fourth.

I remember Kitty. Her program was one of my favorites on HGTV. We only have basic cable so I haven't seen HGTV in years. Anyway, all the rooms are adorable, but I don't have enough stuff to furnish a room like that. I'm a bit of a minimalist, but I love the magazine. Enjoy your 4th!

I'm with ya, I love the feel of a book in my hands. It's a stimulating experience, touches the pages, flipping over, a whole process! I loved Kitty and didn't know she was Nate's Mom! I miss those types of program on HGTV, not it's all real estate...boring.
Boy, I'll have to be on the lookout for the books, I so need inspiration for my craft room. I keep the door closed if anyone comes over! Have a great holiday weekend.
