Frugalicious Friday & Last Minute Frugal Christmas Finds

If you've come over from Finding Fabulous and are looking for Frugalicious Friday, you've come to the right place. Welcome! The lovely and talented Jane has asked me to guest host this week's edition of Frugalicious Friday and I am absolutely delighted to do so.

*****

After my lovely trip to Home Depot, I had gone next door to Target to get the napkins for my coaster project. Of course, I had to stop off at the dollar section.

I found these things ~ all for $1.00 each ~ that I thought would be neat for projects and to use to decorate my wrapped gifts.

Chipboard Alphabet and a wreath pin
Rub-ons

Layered stickers

I also hit Joann's this week to get some fabric for pillows I'm making for my Dad for Christmas {I'll share those soon}. I found Curly, Moe & Larry here; marked down at 60% off already and it's still a week until Christmas! Aren't they cute?

The snowman was $14.99, on sale for $5.99.

The elf was also $14.99, marked down to $5.99.

And the caroler was $12.99, on sale for $5.19.

Can't wait to see all the markdowns after Christmas!

Okay, if I did this McLinky thingy correctly, you should be able to link up your frugal finds. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else has found!

Let Them Eat Cake ~ Off My New Cake Stand

Yay! It's Friday and that means the end of a long and tiring week for me, and Frugalicious Friday, hosted by Jane of Finding Fabulous.

I almost thought I had nothing to participate with this week, but remembered that I got a pretty good price on a cake stand this past weekend. I had actually been looking for some pieces at the dollar store that I could put together and make my own, but all they had were some Christmas patterned dinner plates. I picked up two and headed to Marshalls thinking I might find something there to use as the base.

After scrutinizing each shelf I found this by accident. A plain white cake stand, which, after consideration, I realized might be a better idea because I can use it all year long for special days.

$5.00 at Marshalls! I thought that was a good price {especially since I was expecting to see $12.99 on the sticker}. Here is the plate I got at the dollar store, too. I realized after I washed everything that I might be able to use both these things together.

Have you seen this picture around blogland? I have and I love it! So simple, yet so pretty. I had also picked up something else at Marshalls . . .

Here's what I did ~ I put the decorative plate on top of the cake plate and that gave me what I wanted for my Christmas Eve table {as I want to lift some foods up and have varying heights on the table}. Then, just for kicks, I put this set of gift boxed chocolates on top. Right away I thought of that picture above!

Well, I thought it made for a nice picture anyway!

I don't know that I'll leave it like this for my buffet, but it does provide some nice decoration in the dining room at the moment.

Frugal & Fabulous!

I'm linking this post up over at Finding Fabulous for Frugalicious Friday. Thanks to the delightful Jane for hosting!

Look what I found at Marshall's! Priced at $5.99; but wait ~ there's something missing off this cute little chair. Apparently, it is supposed to be a picture frame. I just like it because it's a chair. It was the only one they had and since it was missing "something", I asked for a discount at the register. I got it for $5.00! Hey, every little bit helps!

Luckily, these came in the mail this week.

And, I just happened to have a piece of black card stock!

As if it was made for it!

Isn't it cute? I love it even more!

Frugal Fleurs

I spent some time with my daughter Wednesday evening at a gluten free cooking demonstration at a bookstore that, happily, was a few doors away from our local Joann's. Without a list and measurement of things, I was really unprepared for a trip into Joann's, but {sigh} I forced myself.

They really had some lovely Christmas decorations out ~ really large ornaments, large pair of bells, bows and more. A bit rich for my blood at $25.00 and up, but it did lead me to a clearance shelf where I found this:

My daughter was quick to point them out to me because she knows I love them. They only had the two and I grabbed one ~ and took about 10 seconds to consider if I should just get both of them. Yeah. I did. I couldn't just leave one behind ~ what if no one bought it.

On clearance at $5.97 each, originally $19.99 each. A real steal as far as I'm concerned! These will be making their way into my living room refresher.

Frugalicious Friday ~ A Sign

I'm hooking this post up with Frugalicious Friday hosted by the Fabulous Jane at Finding Fabulous, where everyone can link up their own frugal and fabulous finds, and we can all oooh and aaah over them.

This find is not from Target, Goodwill or the dollar store. This fabulous find is from Ballard Designs ~ that's right, I said Ballard Designs. Frugal fabulous finds are relative to where you find them ~ right?

I was browsing through Ballard online and found this Create sign in the Estate Sale section ~ $24.99 originally $45.00.

This sign is a good size too ~ 6 inches high, 27 1/4 inches wide. Walk with me into my great room/den {we just call it the big den}. This is where I put it for now, with my real thought to purchasing it for my future home office.

I also added two more of those panels from Target that I posted about here, on the french doors to the backyard. My son {of all people} had asked if I was going to put panels here. I don't know why I didn't except that I thought the curtain rings that we had put on a PVC rod under that wood cornice were removed. They were still there! You can't tell from these pictures but I have verticals stacked back behind the right side panel.

Since I took down whatever decor I had up there when I staged our house, I think this will work for the time being, and I was really happy with the price. Now it's off to see everyone's finds!

Frugal Finds For Frugalicious Friday

Another Frugalicious Friday link up! A couple of weeks ago when I hit the dollar store {I shared those finds last Friday}, I had also been to Michael's. I picked up a few regular priced items {I thought they were still a good price}, but I also made my way to the back to check out the clearance stuff.

  • I got cones to paper and decorate ~$3.49 for a package of 4. I may get another package or two and decorate them with a Christmas theme, using some ribbon as a hanger and hang them on each dining chair.

  • The letters were $.79 each.

  • The keys have black and white designs and were $3.99 for the set of three. I could use these on any number of projects {honestly, I couldn't resist getting them}.

  • The pink and black things ~ I had no idea what they were when I bought them ~ that's always the sign of a good shopper, even if you don't know what something is, pretend you do. They are tab clips, good for marking pages in a magazine or book, but I may use them to just clip papers together. They were on clearance for $2.49.

The other little item is this anniversary tag. I thought it was a pretty little tag for $.28.

These rub ons were $1.49, and I liked the fonts and the words. These would be small enough to use on smaller craft projects.

I'm sure they thought I was a total weirdo because I found most of the clearance stuff just tossed in a box. I sat down on the floor and took stuff out so I could get to the stuff on the bottom ~ which is where I found the letters. Hey, sometimes you literally have to search for great deals!

I can't wait to see everybody's finds!

The Pixie Dust Decor Giveaway ends Friday at midnight! Make sure you enter for at least one chance to win this cute apron set.

Dollar Tree Finds

This past weekend I went to the Dollar Tree to see if I could help the stock price go up a little higher {no, I'm kidding; I own Family Dollar stock anyway}. Actually, I went to see if I could find some small pumpkins to change out my lemon apothecary jar that is in my kitchen. I found the pumpkins in a net bag, but they were too orange and there were just too many for me to spray paint.

So this is what I got instead:

Christmas stuff! I don't think I've bought Christmas decorations this early ~ ever {except for January, but then I'm stocking up on wrap and cards on clearance so that doesn't count}. The thought of paying $1.00 for each one of these things was just too much to pass up. I plan on going back for more of the ornaments because I think I'd like to try making a wreath out of ball ornaments this year. Like these:

BH&G

Wreaths by Design

Good Housekeeping

It looks like I may need different sizes to accomplish this look.

I liked these stars {even in their present silver}, but thought they could easily be painted.

I also liked these glasses. I couldn't go wrong for $1.00 a glass.

Finally, I got little wood word signs. I actually bought two {the second one says something different, but since I'm making something for my daughter for Christmas, and who knows if she secretly reads my blog ~ my lips are sealed on that word sign}. I've been kicking around how I want to paint this, and I do have an idea. Hopefully, that will turn out as I'm picturing it in my head.

10 things for $10.00!

I'm hooking this post up with

Don't forget Friday is the last day for the
Design Pattern Company Giveaway! I'll be announcing the winner on Saturday!
