More Johnson Brothers

SONY DSC

If you remember, I found a couple of Johnson Brothers Friendly Village dinner plates at the local antique mart a few weeks ago that I posted about here.  On a return trip, I found these three cups and saucers from the same set, different vendor.

SONY DSC Such pretty colors; I love the scene on them and how the leaf pattern that is around the saucers is on the inside of the cups.

These worked out just right for me because I’ve been wanting to get a few transferware cups and saucers to stack under a cloche.  I actually had a cloche sitting in a closet with nowhere to go, so I pulled it out and it wound up being the perfect size to cover this stack.

I’ve been enjoying looking at it every time I walk by!  I took this picture the night that I set it up.

The next morning I added a tag to the cloche.  Sometimes I think something as simple as a tag can finish a look off nicely.

Such pretty plates. I think I have a creamer that matches that pattern. I'll have to take a look. Love them stacked under the cloche.

I know I've said this before I wish I had chose my aunt's Johnson brothers set instead of the Dresden. I have never seen any in thrift stores. I need to keep a lookout. It's been years since I've seen hers but for some reason I'm thinking her plates were square but I'm probably wrong :)

My husband grew up with these, and we were happy to find 4 large dinner plates at an antiques shop. Paid too much, but nice to have. I've never seen them at a thrift shop. Love how you stacked them under the cloche. The tag was a nice finishing touch. Simple to do, but very decorative!

Ohhhhhhhhh, lucky YOU!! I love 'em!!

I have yet to find ANY Johnson Brothers Friendly Village. I did find a different pattern - Country Life - An "old farm" pattern (not my favorite) especially with the price of $269 for 2 cups, 2 saucers, 2 dinner plates and the tea pot! I'll keep looking!!

Kathy, I only have a small pitcher of Friendly Village. I found it at a thrift store before I even knew about F.V. I loved the look of it and bought it. Shortly after I saw lots of it in blogland. Would love to find a few more pieces. I smiled when I saw them stacked under a cloche. I just did a post of a stack of bowls under one of my cloches. Funny thing, after taking the photo I thought, "it needs a tag or a bow". Love your sweet bird one!

Jann

That was a great find! I love them stacked under your cloche. And the bell-shaped cloche is so pretty. Both of the ones I have are just straight sided.

Great find Kathy! I have a collection of brown transferware and I'm always on the lookout. It's getting harder to find and often expensive. Love how yours look under the cloche.
